Boulder Youth Symphony Society
Throughout most of history, music was seen as a communal activity. People, like you and me, would learn to sing and play music. At community gatherings people would make music together as form of communal entertainment.
Sadly, there was a brief dark moment in history when we learned to see music as the exclusive domain of professionally trained recording artists. Our taste for music turned from a participatory endeavor to a pure spectator activity.
Fortunately, with the drop in price in recording equipment and new technologies that can help us all hone our music making skills, we seem to be returning to an age with more local musicians and community centered bands and choral groups.
The Boulder Youth Symphony Society is an organization that helps hone the talent of young musicians. The site includes information on the conductors of the symphony, auditions along with the symphony's schedule.
